About the Trip
Experience Ladakh beyond its famous landscapes and mountain roads with a journey into one of its most meaningful cultural celebrations. Losar, the traditional Ladakhi New Year, brings families and communities together through prayers, traditional music, festive meals and age-old customs. This six-day winter experience gives you an opportunity to witness these celebrations in local villages and homes rather than simply observing them as a visitor.
Hosted by Sourabh, who has travelled to Ladakh more than 20 times(100+ other trips) and has also lived there, this journey introduces you to the people, traditions and everyday life that make the region special. From conversations over traditional butter tea to meeting local families and experiencing village celebrations, discover a more personal side of Ladakh.
Experience the Traditional Celebrations of Ladakhi New Year
Losar is more than the beginning of a new year for Ladakhi communities. It is a celebration of family, traditions, spirituality and togetherness. During this journey, experience the festive atmosphere of Leh and visit a traditional Ladakhi village to witness local celebrations.
Meet local people, experience traditional performances, listen to folk songs and understand customs passed down through generations. Sharing a Losar dinner inside a Ladakhi home makes the experience even more meaningful, offering a glimpse into how local families welcome the New Year.
Discover the Local Side of Winter Ladakh
Winter gives Ladakh a completely different character. With fewer visitors, quieter villages and snow-covered surroundings, the region offers an opportunity to experience its culture at a slower pace.
Beyond the festival, discover the landscapes and heritage of the region, from the historic monasteries and landmarks around Leh to the mountain scenery of Nubra Valley and the frozen beauty of Pangong Tso. These winter landscapes add another dimension to the cultural experience.

Alongside the Desh Videsh trip leader and local team, the journey brings travellers closer to the people and culture of Ladakh.
