About the Trip

Celebrate Christmas and welcome the New Year with an unforgettable journey through the mountains, culture and landscapes of Nepal. This Nepal Christmas New Year Tour Package is a 6N/7D experiential group trip that takes you from the historic streets of Kathmandu to the lakeside charm of Pokhara and deep into the dramatic landscapes of the Mustang region.

The journey combines cultural experiences, scenic road journeys, Himalayan viewpoints, peaceful villages and spiritual destinations. From exploring Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath in Kathmandu to watching sunrise over the Annapurna range from Sarangkot, walking through traditional Marpha and visiting the sacred Muktinath Temple, every part of the trip brings a different side of Nepal to life.

With stays in carefully selected 4-star hotels and homestays, six breakfasts and six dinners, private ground transportation and an experienced trip captain, this Nepal Christmas New Year Trip is designed for travellers who want to experience Nepal beyond the usual tourist route.

Celebrate Christmas and New Year in Nepal

A festive holiday in Nepal is an opportunity to combine celebration with an unforgettable Himalayan adventure.

This trip begins in Kathmandu, where you meet your trip leader and fellow travellers before exploring some of the city's most iconic cultural and spiritual landmarks. The experience includes Swayambhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square and Pashupatinath Temple, followed by dinner and time with the group.

For those looking to enjoy Kathmandu's nightlife, the itinerary also includes a pub crawl with the crew. Club entry fees are not included.

The journey then moves towards Pokhara before heading deeper into the Mustang region, making this more than just a typical Nepal New Year Tour.

Kathmandu to Pokhara: From Heritage to Himalayan Landscapes

After breakfast, the group leaves Kathmandu and drives towards Pokhara through winding mountain roads, rivers and hillside villages. On arrival, you check into your hotel before heading towards Phewa Lake.

The lakeside area is ideal for a relaxed evening, with the option to enjoy a boat ride to Tal Barahi Temple. You can also explore Pokhara's lively Lakeside neighbourhood, known for cafés, local shops and mountain views.

For travellers who want to continue the festive mood, optional party nights at popular Pokhara clubs are also mentioned in the itinerary, with entry fees payable separately.

Experience Sunrise Over the Annapurna Range

One of the highlights of this Nepal Christmas Tour is an early morning drive to Sarangkot.

Wake up before sunrise and make your way to the viewpoint to witness the first light over the Annapurna range and the iconic Machhapuchhre peak. The experience offers an impressive Himalayan panorama and is one of the memorable moments of the Pokhara portion of the trip.

Later, visit the Pumdikot Shiva Statue before continuing towards Begnas Lake. Compared with Phewa Lake, Begnas offers a quieter setting where you can slow down and enjoy the surrounding landscape.

The evening is free for café hopping, shopping or simply relaxing around Pokhara.

Enter the Mustang Region Through the Kali Gandaki Valley

The journey becomes more dramatic as you leave Pokhara and drive towards Marpha in the Mustang region.

The route passes through the spectacular Kali Gandaki Valley, with the landscape gradually changing from green hills to rugged and barren mountain terrain. En route, the itinerary includes a stop at Rupse Waterfall and, if time permits, a visit to the natural hot springs at Tatopani.

By evening, arrive in Marpha, a traditional village known for its whitewashed houses, narrow stone pathways and apple orchards. Take a walk through the village and experience its peaceful atmosphere before spending the night there.

Discover Thini Village and Sacred Muktinath

The next day takes you further into the Mustang landscape.

Start with a visit to Thini Village followed by a short hike to a viewpoint overlooking the Mustang Valley and surrounding peaks. The journey then continues towards Muktinath Temple, an important pilgrimage destination situated at high altitude.

Explore the temple complex and its famous 108 water spouts while taking in the peaceful atmosphere of this spiritually significant location.

The combination of mountain scenery and cultural experiences makes this one of the most distinctive parts of the Nepal Group Tour Package.

Explore Ancient Kagbeni Before Returning to Pokhara

After breakfast, the journey continues to Kagbeni, an ancient village and gateway to Upper Mustang.

Walk through its narrow alleys, explore the monasteries and experience the traditional character of this historic Himalayan settlement. After exploring Kagbeni, begin the return journey towards Pokhara through the dramatic Kali Gandaki Valley.

The final evening in Pokhara is kept relaxed, giving you time to enjoy food, conversations and memorable moments with your fellow travellers before the journey back to Kathmandu.

A Nepal Trip Designed for Experiential Travellers

This is not simply a sightseeing-focused Nepal Tour Package. The itinerary is designed around road journeys, local experiences, mountain landscapes, cultural sites and time spent with a group of fellow travellers.

The route also allows you to experience contrasting sides of Nepal. Kathmandu introduces you to the country's history and spirituality, Pokhara offers lakeside relaxation and Himalayan views, while Marpha, Muktinath and Kagbeni take you deeper into the mountain landscapes of Mustang.

For travellers looking to spend Christmas and New Year somewhere different, this combination creates a journey filled with exploration, culture, mountains and shared experiences.

Accommodation, Meals and Travel Support

The package includes six nights of accommodation at selected partner stays, with a combination of hotels and homestays. The itinerary specifies 4-star hotels and homestays, with accommodation in boutique-style homestays possible in Muktinath and Marpha/Jomsom.

Six breakfasts and six dinners are included. In remote areas, meal choices may be simpler because of accessibility. Indian food is available at most stops, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options generally available.
All ground transportation is arranged through private vehicles. If road conditions become difficult, a 4WD vehicle may be arranged for the affected section, with the additional cost borne by the travellers.

Important Things to Know Before Booking

Because this is a road trip through mountainous regions, travellers should be prepared for long daily drives. The standard schedule starts with a 7 AM wake-up and departure around 8 AM. Road conditions can also affect transportation arrangements.

For arrival, flights to Kathmandu should be booked to land before 12 PM on Day 1 so that you do not miss the planned sightseeing. Alternatively, you can arrive a day earlier and arrange an additional hotel night separately.

For departure, return flights should ideally be booked after 8 PM on the final day because the group travels from Pokhara to Kathmandu before heading to the airport. An additional night in Kathmandu is also possible if preferred.

Monument and temple entry fees, personal expenses, lunches, beverages, alcohol and other items not specifically mentioned in the inclusions are not part of the package.
