Day 1: Chandigarh to Narkanda – Into the Wild
Your adventure kicks off in Chandigarh, and as you move towards Narkanda, the landscape shifts dramatically. Feel the thrill of the mountain roads as you leave behind the bustling plains. If time permits, a short detour to Hatu Peak is a must! The road is steep and narrow, perfect for adventure lovers seeking an offbeat thrill.
- Arrive in Chandigarh and get a warm welcome from our representative who will help you transfer to Narkanda; initiating your Spiti Valley tour.
- Enjoy the scenic drive to Narkanda and notice how the terrain changes from the plains to the mountains. During your drive, if time allows you can halt at the world-renowned Hatu temple and seek the blessings of Goddess Kali, the presiding deity there.
- Post the temple exploration, head to your hotel and check in for a much needed relaxation before dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Narkanda to Sangla via Chitkul – The Last Indian Village!
Today’s ride takes you through one of the most scenic yet thrilling routes. The lush forests of Narkanda gradually give way to the raw, untamed beauty of Kinnaur Valley. Brace yourself for some adrenaline-pumping moments as you cross Wangtoo & Karcham Dam, where gushing waters and steep cliffs make for a dramatic landscape.
- Wake up to an early breakfast, and get ready for a drive like no other to the highland of Sangla Valley.
- Start day 2 of your Spiti Valley tour with a visit to the Hatu temple and then hop on your ride for a drive to Chitkul; the last village inhabited in the Indian borders. During the drive don’t forget to shoot the fabulous views from your lens. You might even catch a glimpse of the Wangtoo Karcham Dam, before reaching Chitkul.
- Upon reaching Chitkul, we highly recommend spending some time in the village and relishing some traditional Himachali snacks along with an essential cup of chai to quench your thirst.
- Later, arrive in Sangla village and check in at your hotel/camps. Take some essential rest since you will be having the evening to yourself to explore the village or just relax in the accommodation.
- Retreat to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Sangla to Tabo via Nako – The Terrain Gets Wild!
The journey today is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The smooth roads soon transform into rocky, high-altitude terrain with sheer drops and hairpin bends. You’ll witness the landscape shifting from green valleys to barren, moon-like terrain as you enter Spiti Valley.
- Wake up to a hearty breakfast and mesmerising views of Sangla. Post breakfast, check out from your accommodation and start your long drive to the dry land of Tabo.
- During the drive, halt at Khab– the confluence of Sutlej and Spiti river. The location is a bliss for photographers as the confluence makes for an amazing backdrop for Insta- worthy photos.
- After clicking pictures of your Spiti Valley tour, drive to greater heights of Nako, a village located near the Indo-China border in the highlands of Himachal. Halt at Nako village for a traditional lunch and post lunch head to Nako lake before driving to Tabo.
- In the evening, arrive in Tabo and check-in your hotel/camps. Post a long drive like this one we highly recommend that you take a quintessential rest to recharge yourself for the adventures that await you the next day.
Day 4: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar – The Cliffside Wonder
Today is a mix of ancient heritage and adrenaline-fueled landscapes. The drive to Dhankar Monastery is steep, narrow, and thrilling, but the reward is an insane panoramic view of the confluence of Spiti & Pin rivers!
- Wake up early to the mesmerising sunrise of Tabo and relish a mouth watering breakfast.
- Post breakfast, drive to Dhankar Monastery, which is over 1000 years old. The monastery is known as ‘Ajanta of the Himalayas’ as it possesses murals and paintings which believed by the locals were made by god himself in a single night.
- Besides its historical significance, the monastery also makes up for an amazing spot to gaze at amazing views as it also overlooks the confluence of Spiti and Pin rivers.
- Later, head to your accommodation in Kaza for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Kaza – Exploring the World’s Highest Villages!
Today is all about exploring some of the highest inhabited places on Earth! Drive through rugged roads to Langza, where prehistoric marine fossils lie buried in the mountains. Feel the rush as you ascend to Komik, standing at a whopping 15,027 ft!
- Wake up to the mesmerising sunrise of Kaza and have a heavenly breakfast.
- Post breakfast, get ready for an adventure like no other. Get in your ride for a sightseeing tour of Kaza. First stop in this expedition is Langza village, the village is renowned for its presence of marine fossils, which are a treat for all history lovers.
- Next up will be Komik, what makes this village so special is that it is the highest village in the world which is connected by a motorable road. The village also gives you ample opportunities to click breathtaking pictures for your Instagram.
- Want to send yourself or your family members a postcard from the world’s highest post office that they will cherish for a lifetime? Well, this is your chance to make that happen in Hikkim, home to some of the highest landmarks in the world and inimitable views.
- Post the sightseeing expedition, retreat to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Kaza – Key Monastery & The Daredevil Bridge!
This day brings adventure, history, and pure adrenaline! Start with a visit to Key Monastery, a fortress-like structure perched at 13,668 ft. Then, push your limits by crossing Chicham Bridge, standing at a staggering 13,596 ft—high enough to make your heart race!
- Arise to a breakfast that you’ll relish and get ready to continue your sightseeing journey.
- Today you will be exploring more marvels of Spiti Valley. Start your journey with a soulful stroll in Kaza village before heading to Key Monastery and Khibber Village.
- The Key Monastery is considered the largest Buddhist learning centre in the entire country which is approximately 1000 years old and is an architectural marvel.
- Next up on the itinerary is Khibber Village, formerly one of the highest villages in the world. The village now is renowned for its monastery and wildlife sanctuary. You will even be driving on one of the world’s highest bridges, the Chicham Bridge during the sightseeing tour.
- Post the exploration, retreat to Kaza for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Kaza to Kalpa via Gue – The Mystery of the Mummy!
Today’s journey takes you back through winding roads, but not before a spine-chilling detour to Gue Monastery, where a naturally mummified monk sits in meditation—a mystery still unsolved!
- Wake up early and get ready to traverse to the scenic village of Kalpa. Voyage on the roads less travelled and if time allows halt at Gue to get a glimpse of the mummy of the meditating monk that is over 550 years old.
- Later, head towards Kalpa. You will be able to notice apple gardens while entering Kalpa and if time permits, stop at one of the gardens to buy apples to take back home.
- In the evening, reach Kalpa and check in your accommodation, after checking in, rest for some time and then stroll in the village afterwards.
- Dinner and overnight stay in Kalpa.
Day 8: Kalpa to Shimla – The Grand Finale!
You’ve conquered some of the most treacherous roads, highest villages, and most surreal landscapes in India!
- For the last time on your Spiti Valley tour, wake up in the midst of the mountains, to head to Shimla. If time permits, you can explore Shimla on your own before catching your bus back to Delhi/Chandigarh in the evening.
